- Highs Every bit the wild child, four doors add a dash of practicality, unbridled fun in rear-drive mode.
- Lows Steering feedback is absent, irregular brake pedal feel, squashed roofline compromises rear-seat headroom.
- Verdict The M8 Gran Coupe is fiercely fast, incredibly grippy, and ridiculously fun but also offers the sensibleness and practicality of four doors.
Overview
The 2025 BMW M8 Gran Coupe, with its rich tariff, offers a very reassuring thought: no matter the driving condition, you have the power, agility, and flawless style that come with a six-figure sedan. All M8 Gran Coupes now come in Competition spec: a 617-hp twin-turbo V-8 delivers scorching performance, propelling the M8 Gran Coupe to a top speed of 190 mph with the help of an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. It’s insanely fast and offers a rear-wheel-drive mode for those moments when you absolutely have to indulge your inner Don Garlits with a smokey burnout. The M8 Gran Coupe's suspension provides a live report of every crevice and crack in the road surface that you’re traversing, but that's the price you’ll pay for its exceptional handling agility. You’ll also have to contend with muted steering feel that doesn’t seem up to the excellence of the rest of the car, as well as brake feel that trailed that of the Audi RS7 and Mercedes-AMG GT63 S in our comparison test. While we love this mobile missile for its looks and power, we prefer the dynamics of competitors such as the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.
Where This Vehicle Ranks
#7 in Best Premium Sports SedansWhat's New for 2025?
The BMW M8 Gran Coupe remains unchanged for 2025.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2025 BMW M8 Gran Coupe starts at $140,975.
While the 2025 BMW M8 Gran Coupe is offered as a single model, we recommend several options that enhance both its luxury and performance. When it comes to the former, choose the Comfort Seating package, which includes remote start, multiple heated interior surfaces, and rear-seat sun shades. More importantly, we’d make sure to check the box for the carbon-ceramic brakes, particularly if you're spending time at the track. We'd also opt for the M Driver's pack that increases top speed to 190 mph from 155. It also comes with a day of expert high-performance driving instruction to help you get the most out of the vehicle you just paid six figures for.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Now that the once-optional Competition package comes standard, all M8 Gran Coupes deliver 617 horsepower and a top speed of 155 mph, or 190 mph when the M Driver’s Package is ordered. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard, delivering blistering acceleration and more than 1.0 g of cornering grip. No matter the pace or drive mode, the M8 Gran Coupe refuses to give up, remaining flat through turns unless you activate the rear-wheel-drive mode. When you do, it transforms the M8 Gran Coupe into the perfect dance partner, surrendering some traction in the name of fun. And even though the adaptive dampers have some give over the big bumps, you’ll never mistake its ride for a 7-series'. There’s also a brake-by-wire system that brings the fun to a halt from 70 mph in a tidy 147 feet – as long as you don’t mind the uneven responses through the pedal in normal driving.
0–60-MPH Times
Yes, it’s fast. We recorded a 2.7-second 60-mph time and 10.8-second quarter-mile. That’s impressive for a four-door that tips the scales at more than 4,300 pounds.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
With EPA estimates of 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, the V-8-powered M8 Gran Coupe certainly won't be confused with a hybrid. However, those figures are on par with other fast four-doors in this fast-sedan class, such as the Audi RS7 (15 mpg city, 22 highway). We haven't tested the M8 Gran Coupe on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, but when we get the chance, we can evaluate its real-world mpg. For more information about the 2025 BMW M8 Gran Coupe's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The four-door M8's cabin is indulgent without being showy, lacking the third-world casino vibe of some high-end Mercedes-Benz models or the dour Germanic aura of Audi. Instead, it’s appropriately premium, featuring rich leather coverings and providing cozy space for four and decent, but not extravagant, amounts of headroom. The M8 Gran Coupe is fitted with the indulgent features you’d expect, including soft-close automatic doors, four-zone climate control, a power rear sunshade, rear side-window shades, front ventilated seats and heated front seats, armrests, and steering wheel. M Sport Seats are standard; lightweight M Carbon front seats are optional, but try them out first. Their stiff side bolsters can make cabin access difficult and you might find them to be too aggressive for daily use. A center console runs the length of the cabin, limiting seating space. Cargo room is similarly constrained, measuring a mere 11 cubic feet.

Infotainment and Connectivity
The M8 Gran Coupe has the standard mod cons you’d expect, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 16-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The central screen is controlled using a rotary controller on the center console, framed by shortcut buttons. For those craving studio-worthy audio, seek out the optional Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, which transforms the Gran Coupe into a four-person concert hall.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Equipped with numerous driver-assistance technology features, the M8 Gran Coupe comes with everything except forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, which is extra. For more information about the M8 Gran Coupe's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Available adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology
- Available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
- Available lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assists
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
BMW's limited and powertrain warranties are competitive compared with luxury rivals' plans. BMW M also makes Mercedes-AMG look bad by providing complimentary scheduled maintenance.
- Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- Powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
- Complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles
